The geek look is set to be the trademark of Taiwanese folk singerCrowd Lu, who is in town to promote his debut album.

High socks and big glasses may not be the sort of look a new popidol wants to sport. But the geeky look works for Taiwanese folksinger-songwriter Crowd Lu.

Dressed in a white t-shirt with navy blue shorts paired with whitestriped socks, white sneakers and a pair of big, black-rimmed glasses, the 23-years-old made a striking first impression when he turned up athis press conference here recently.

Lu, who was in town to promote his debut album, 100 Ways For Living, says:〝I have had this nerdy look since I was young, so I decided tocontinue with it even though I have entered the entertainment industry. Moreover, I feel comfortable wearing T-shirt and shorts.〞

The shy performer chose a quirky venue for the media conference -Toast Box at Bugis Junction, which serve coffee and toast.

He say the place ties in with the song Good Morning! on the album.

The undergraduate, a Spanish major in Tamkang University, says healways eat breakfast, waking up promptly at 7am daily to have coffee, bread and an egg, sunny side up.

His love for the first meal of the day inspired him to write the song, andhe holds all his media meetings at cafes or stalls that serve breakfast.

〝My favourite song in my album is Good Morning! as it encourages a healthyway of living by reminding everyone to have their breakfast everyday.〞He says.

He started composing and writing songs two years ago, when he was recuperatingin hospital after a car accident.

He is known for his upbeat songs that speak of love and hope.〝The lyrics ofmy songs are honest and real, & I think listeners are able to relate to them, which is a good thing.〞

The coming year will be an exciting albeit busy one for Lu. He says he willcontinue to tour Asia to promote his debut album, while juggling his studiesat the same time.

In Singapore for the first time, he says he finds the place〝very clean andmodern, with an entirely different atmosphere from Taiwan.〞

He adds:〝I have heard about the good food here and I am looking forward totrying Hainanese chicken rice. Of course, I would like to try the breakfasthere too.〞
